Notifications
localWiki includes a built-in notification system that alerts you to sync events, governance actions, and secret changes across your workspaces.
Opening the notification panel
Click the bell icon in the top bar to open the notification panel. If you have unread notifications, a badge on the bell displays the count (up to “99+”).
The panel slides in from the right side of the screen. Click anywhere outside the panel or press the X button to close it.
Notification categories
Notifications are grouped into four categories. Use the filter bar at the top of the panel to narrow what you see:
| Filter | What it shows |
|---|---|
| All | Every notification across all categories |
| Sync | Page edits received from peers |
| Governance | Device approval requests, approvals, revocations, and invite redemptions |
| Keys | Secret and project key changes synced from peers |
Notification types
| Event | Description |
|---|---|
| page_updated | A peer edited a page in your workspace. Clicking the notification opens that page in the editor. |
| secret_changed | A peer updated one or more secrets. Batched notifications show a count (e.g. “updated 3 secrets”). |
| device_pending | A new device is requesting access to the workspace. Clicking navigates to the admin devices panel. |
| device_approved | A peer’s device was approved. |
| device_revoked | A peer’s device was revoked from the workspace. |
| invite_redeemed | A peer joined the workspace via an invite code. |
Dismissing notifications
- Mark one as read — Each notification has a mark-read action.
- Mark all as read — Click the Read all button (checkmark icon) in the panel header to clear all unread indicators at once.
Notifications are stored locally in your vault. They are never sent to any external server.
Unread indicators
Pages with unread sync updates also show a small green dot next to their title in the sidebar, so you can see at a glance which documents have new changes without opening the notification panel.
