Creating Workspaces
Workspaces are the top-level organizational unit in localWiki. Each workspace holds its own set of pages, project keys, and secrets. Use them to separate projects, teams, or environments.
Create a workspace
- Click the + button next to the workspace name at the top of the sidebar.
- Enter a name for the workspace (e.g.,
production-api,mobile-app,team-notes). - Press Enter to create it.
The new workspace appears in the sidebar and is automatically selected as the active workspace.
Auto-generated icon and color
Every workspace gets an icon and accent color derived from its name on creation. These are displayed in the sidebar and the workspace switcher to help you visually distinguish between workspaces at a glance.
There is no icon picker or color picker — the icon and color are deterministically generated from the workspace name. If you rename a workspace, the icon and color update to match the new name.
Workspace switcher
After creating multiple workspaces, use the workspace switcher dropdown at the top of the sidebar to jump between them. See Switching Workspaces for details on search and recent workspace features.
There is no limit on the number of workspaces you can create. Each workspace is an independent container — deleting a workspace does not affect other workspaces.
Default workspace
If no workspaces exist when you first use localWiki, a default workspace called My Workspace is automatically created. You can rename or delete this workspace like any other.
